H&M FleetGuard

Video training & quiz platform — website and mobile app

H&M uploads safety videos; drivers watch and complete quizzes on their phones. Safety managers assign training, track completion, and export audit-ready records.

Executive summary

H&M Trucking Co. has asked BraddCorp to build a fleet safety training platform for their drivers — video modules, quizzes, assignments, and completion records that hold up in audits, insurance reviews, and litigation.

This brief is BraddCorp's proposed scope for H&M FleetGuard — an H&M-branded website + native mobile app focused on video training and quizzes. BraddCorp builds and hosts the platform; H&M uploads their own videos. Drivers complete quizzes on their phones; safety managers assign training and export completion records.

Why this matters now

Motor carriers face rising pressure on four fronts:

  • Nuclear verdicts & litigation — poor training records increase liability exposure.
  • Insurance market — underwriters reward documented, recurring safety programs.
  • CSA / DOT scrutiny — violation patterns trigger more inspections and lost freight relationships.
  • Driver shortage — replacing a driver costs $8,000–$12,000; bad training tools drive churn.

Proposed solution — H&M FleetGuard

BraddCorp delivers two surfaces, one system:

Admin websiteExecutives, safety managers, insurersUpload videos, build quizzes, assign training, run reports
Mobile app (iOS + Android)Drivers and terminal staffWatch videos, take quizzes, push reminders, offline completion

Role-based access: Driver, Safety Manager, Admin, and read-only Auditor/Insurer portal.

Core user journeys

Safety Manager — monthly cycle

Build the monthly training plan — pick videos, attach quizzes, assign to drivers or groups. Track who has finished, follow up on overdue assignments, export a completion report in minutes.

Driver — in the cab

Push notification → watch 8-minute video → complete quiz → certificate stored.

Driver — remedial (Motive event)

After a hard brake or speeding event in Motive, FleetGuard assigns the matching H&M quiz and sends a push — watch video, complete quiz, record stored as remedial training.

Executive — quarterly review

Participation dashboard: completion %, quiz scores and retakes. Share insurer-ready summary before renewal.

Motive integration (Phase 2)

H&M already uses Motive for fleet management. BraddCorp can connect FleetGuard to Motive's API so certain safety events automatically assign a remedial quiz — still using H&M's own videos, not a separate content library.

How it works: Motive sends webhooks when events like hard braking or speeding are recorded. FleetGuard receives the event, matches the Motive driver to a FleetGuard user, applies rules H&M configures in the admin, and assigns the linked quiz with a push notification to the driver's phone.

Supported Motive event types (configurable):

  • Hard brake / harsh driving — via driver_performance_event_created (e.g. hard_brake)
  • Speeding — via speeding_event_created (posted speed, severity, duration)

Safety manager controls: map Motive drivers to FleetGuard users; set which event types trigger which quiz; set severity thresholds and cooldowns (e.g. one remedial assignment per driver per week) so drivers are not flooded with assignments.

What H&M needs from Motive: a Fleet Admin generates an API key in Motive (Admin → Developers). BraddCorp registers a webhook endpoint and handles verification, driver matching, and assignment — events typically arrive a few minutes after they occur on the road.

Monthly training stays manager-assigned. Motive only triggers remedial assignments when configured rules match.

Interactive demo

BraddCorp built a clickable concept of the driver app and admin dashboard — watch a short sample video, answer a multiple-choice and true/false question, and see a completion certificate.

Compliance & legal defensibility

Records are a first-class product feature. Every training event stores user ID, module version, server-side start/end timestamps, device metadata, quiz attempts with question-level misses, and assignment source (scheduled, remedial, orientation, or Motive event).

Exportable report types:

  • Individual driver training history
  • Fleet participation summary & overdue assignments
  • Remedial training log (post-incident)
  • Orientation completion for new hires
  • One-click audit packet PDF for DOT/insurer

Technology architecture

BraddCorp builds and operates the stack below for H&M:

Web appNext.js — H&M admin dashboards
MobileNative iOS + Android (offline video, push)
API & DBTypeScript API, PostgreSQL for compliance records
VideoAdaptive streaming with signed URLs + offline download
NotificationsPush (APNs/FCM) + SMS + email
IntegrationsMotive webhooks (Phase 2) — event-triggered remedial quizzes
HostingVercel (web) + managed database + object storage

Implementation roadmap

Phase 1 — MVP

Admin website (video upload, quiz builder, user management, assignments, reports), mobile app (watch, quiz, push), PDF completion export, and driver onboarding. BraddCorp builds and tests with H&M before a wider fleet rollout.

Phase 2 — Operations depth

Quiz builder improvements, remedial assignment workflows, Motive webhook integration (hard brake, speeding → auto-assign linked quiz), insurer read-only portal.

Phase 3 — Polish

Participation analytics by terminal and refinements based on H&M's day-to-day use after launch.
